You just have to search around a bit and you can find the good stuff 'cause there really are people who put effort in the characters they make. But got some are straight broken. I always run them with enemy mods because the difficulty of enemy mods kinda gets canceled out by the strength of modded classes.
Put him in the frontline spot and just spam Stand Behind Me. I mean at that point just download a mod that makes you 1 hit every enemy and can't die. Like why even go through the extra steps of setting up each turn?
I know. I used it once, didnt like how broken it was, uninstalled it. The comment above mine was literally about broken mods. My favourite mod class that I believe is kinda balanced is definitely the Artorias one Abysswatcher I think He fits the aesthetic of DD a lot and doesn't really break the game. Low health, low damage, but can chain together a small damage attack and guarding a teammate.
Maybe have modded interactables for the buffs? Maybe just a weird combo of normal ones. Yeah ive had quest damage buffs and debuffs, just not to this extent. Its not a damage based class haha. I'm going to once again sing the praises of Marvin Seo. On top of just general high concept high quality execution, he also gave each class its own week of beta development - people were encouraged to provide feedback and he adjusted the class' power according to the feedback and discussion generated.
Don't be discouraged by body horror porn mod or anime loli replacement mod There's some really good stuff out there that's really well balanced and super thematic. The Thrall can be busted if correctly used, but yeah i have to agree Marvin Seo mods are very great.
I mean isn't that any character in DD? Like the Bounty Hunter completely obliterates things in a marking team, Highwayman riposte builds do insane damage etc etc. Oh yeah for sure but he's got major stress issues so if you let that go out of control soon your characters will get a first hand experience of that damage.
The thrall is a leper that trades self sufficiency, tanking capabilities and virtues for even more damage, a riposte and a stun. Sounds quite balanced to me. As far as self-sufficiency goes, he has a recovery skill that's like the stress heal of Leper and the HP recovery of Abomination. So while it's worse, he still has it. True, but at the same time for him to be busted you need to maintain him very well. You need to watch his stress, keep his stun resist high arguably , and raise his acc.
He's super strong, but at least it takes some work and maintenance to make him that strong. He works well with jester, fanatic, houndmaster bleed synergy with thrall's crimson court trinket , plague doctor too. They all feel about the same power level as the rest of the cast. The Dragonslayer from Dark Souls might be a bit overturned but I love it aesthetically.
My favorite broken class mod is cannoneer. It does big dmg with a wind up. So its great for bosses but useless while getting there. You think Cannoneer is broken? I mean for sure he is strong, but his set up kind of limits him to doing big damage every 2 rounds or so. He might be a bit overtuned yeah, but I do like that with the damage buff comes an acc debuff. I haven't notice him being too busted yet. The trick is to give him crit trinkets. Makes some bosses trivial.
He is VERY good at long fights but lacks in first turn kills. Which is pretty crucial for backline characters to hit and kill other backline characters first turn. My only complain for him tho is the fact that he has so many useless abilities. Light the fuse and BOOM are the only things you will be cycling and maaaybe grapeshot. Rn my favorite hero is the commandant. I really love the design and the gameplay. I also got mine "born leader" quirk which calls for some great in game rp moments.
I love the bloodborne squad powder keg, saw hunter and the bloodborne cleric which does great stun comboes but clearing stun for massive damage is just not as viable as leaving them stunned and killing them next turn. Put fourfold harm and dodge trinkets on slayer. Get the on punch glove and hulk buster for iron man and make them dance on 2nd and 3rd row. Slayers spams run and gun while iron man spams iron fist. Great for CoM. Thats the case for the Dont Starve modding community as well.
To be fair, mods like these aren't really for people who wanna be challenged by the game in the survival sense. It's for the people who just wanna fuck around and play with silly stuff for harmless fun. No matter if I use normal Duchess mod who has transformation or human Duchess mod who doesn't have transformation , I pretty much use her like a Leper. Team doesn't matter much, imo.
Start her R3, use the Holy Lance copy turn 1, the riposte skill turn 2, and transform and eat frontliners to recover health for the rest of the fight. Thorn is just a really cool mod. Overall great mod. Yeah, that happend when I got the Masks of Skyrim, but instead of removing it I did a and re-balanced it myself, after breaking the save file 3 times I got it to work and be balanced.
Main change: Changed rarity so it does not drop from missions, now it drops from Shambler both making it harder to get and also diluting the Shambler poll of drops even drastically;. But the end result is that instead of having 8 Masks on my team because they are just better than everything else, now I may have one, maybe 2 or none on certain teams, and after weeks I still am missing a few of them.
The Hero class mod Link is OP too. His boomerang ignores stun resistance for everything, making it possible for enemies to get no chance to attack. Not only does it mark everyone, and double, even triple stuns the whole party, but it stuns corpses, the Garden Guardian Shield, and with his boomerang trinket it gives him dodge and acc on top of it, fortunately I guess outside of boomerang spam his other abilities aren't as broken, so I use him to mark with the hook shot and as a healer, if you don't abuse the boomerang he's pretty fun.
I mean, yeah, the mod is horribly unbalanced But it's fun. It just feels satisfying to play. Sometimes, after you get fucked by a random Shambler in a run where you forgot the torches, but don't want to retreat because you bought too much shit, or freaking Wilbur kills your best hero when you thought everything was over, or you just lost someone to some unlucky crits Sometimes you just want to go in there with a fully charged Lilith and destroy the Countess in 3 turns, or find the perfect party for those incredibly overcomplicated classes and just destroy everything, is as valid as everything else.
Balance it out by sending her to clear dungeons with a smaller party! In rank 2 she can use wine of arrogance to heal herself, but you will need food to keep the bounty hunter in check. My favorites are the classes that are simply centered around a playstyle or two with maybe one outlandish skill. Example: I recently discovered the Saw Hunter mod and wow it's actually pretty fun. Using them in a new file I enjoy using heavy stun synergy in the courtyard both Saw Hunter and Occultist stuns don't consume torch there so I have three sometimes four heroes and I'm just rotating stuns and when possible use up a stun for major damage with the Hunter.
It's simple as heck but I already have a heavily modded file with the insanely complex heroes. When my enemy would crit me till death. I suppose i've been lucky with my mod classes cause the ones I got plus the enemy mods I got and the game is actually pretty difficult. If you bought the game on steam go to the workshop, there you hit subscribe to the mods you like and then you have to enable them on the main menu, if you don't have it in steam you can download them from Nexus and get them into the game files, though I haven't tried that yet honestly.
Then just put them in the darkest dungeon mod file. And many mods add new enemies to the game, many of which are more difficult than vanilla ones. You can balance them out yourself, or even edit the files of OP mods to balance them. It's what I did for the Kitsune Miko. This mod pictures a character that is basically a child design wise in a sexual way, with even a fully nsfw skin made by its official creator.
This is why I don't like mods in general. Very few mods actually care about balance. The original developers take a lot of care in game balance and design. Having that trivialized by mods just feels bad for me. Where did I make a prescription for everyone?
Most broken mod class is probably T-posing leper mod tbh. You have to look for the one that isn't just a leper skin but you can see him doing absolutely insane damage on the workshop page. A lot of anime class mods are insanely broken too but they were all designed with a albiet bad sense of balance. Take the mod up there for example, she's actually not doing as much damage as you think because her base damage is piss poor but she can get a bunch of stacking buffs that can make her pretty nutty.
Echoing what some have said already about some of the mod classes being broken. Some of them make things a little too easy. On the other hand, some of them fill much-needed gaps or make certain setups more interesting. It makes shuffling a little bit more interesting and makes you think about your next move a little harder.
You get rewarded for your trouble, to be sure. Some of the ones I've tried but am not super fond of are the Bloodclot, the Harlot, and the Claimants mostly because they're just underpowered and weird. I found one recently that I really like but is also really strong called The Marksman.
Overtuned, but not horribly so. Makes the game easier when you just want to blow up some eldritch horrors after work. Yeah, I love her too. Also, got one with on guard and quickdraw and she rocks lol. I love using the Priest Errat class mod, a frontline healer that looks dope AF.
Just so i can get rid of some vestals. Mavin seo's archer class is everything i wanted an arbalest to be. The samurai and the librarian are good classes that aren't too broken. I've downloaded 2 class mods, 2B and Slayer, and while 1 of 2B's skills is severely broken she is fairly ok Slayer is actually pretty well done, 3ranged skills, 3 melee skills, BFG, You get till camp buffs that empower your BFG, it's a class You have to play squeezing every last drop before You rest to really get the full BFG potential.
The Warhammer 40k Space Marine class. My favourite mod class that I believe is kinda balanced is definitely the Artorias one Abysswatcher I think He fits the aesthetic of DD a lot and doesn't really break the game I just think he's neat. Tfw a subpar Leper can still probably outdamage her. Level 0 leper with Revenge: you dare oppose me mortal. Anime girls are too powerfull for the Darkest Dungeon universe. They're used to bad stuff happening to them, nobody goes through ShindoL unscarred.
My all-time favorite mods gotta be the Sisters, the Duchess and the Thorn. All rights reserved. Popular Discussions View All 2. Then this discussion is for you. The Laughing Sagari Trinket. If I was in position 4, it will be better just used Pin Down. The dmg is similar and it can debuff enemy.
